Many of our students take advantage of opportunities to enter dance competitions, performing special choreography as a member of our group competition team, The Academy Showbiz Kids. Auditions are held annually. The Competition Dancers are a positive representation of the studio, community and themselves. Dancers who participate in competition have the opportunity to perform several times throughout the year as well as the experience of rehearsals outside their typical classroom setting. Competition can help students build character, stage presence, and confidence.
We limit our involvement as a studio to only those competitions which we believe offer a sufficient challenge. When viewed in the proper perspective by the students and their parents, participating in competitions is an additional means of enhancing the technique and performing skills acquired in the class room. It is not merely to accumulate medals, trophies and titles. Competitions become a valuable adjunct to a young person's education in dance as well as in life. We are extremely proud of the reputation our studio has attained at both regional and national levels.
