Academy of Dance Launches
Mentor Program
for AOD Company Dancers interested in a career as a performer!
Competition for college/conservatory admission and scholarships is more competitive than ever before. For that reason the Academy of Dance is beginning a special assistance program for students planning to pursue a career in the performing arts.
The AOD College Mentor Program will combine the expertise of a professional team consisting of AOD teaching staff as well as connections in the industry to ensure success.
AOD students selected for this program will have the opportunity to work with

Performers with experience auditioning and performing on Broadway.

Dance faculty at prestigious colleges and universities.

Graduates of dance programs at Colleges and Universities with first-hand knowledge of the audition process.

Members of professional dance companies including Alvin Ailey, Gus Giordano, and the Richmond Ballet.

Department Heads and Executive Directors of University Musical Theatre programs.
Academy Staff will help each student develop a personal plan for success including:

Establishment of specific written goals.

Selection of appropriate college level programs including those at conservatories.

Defining exactly what is required for each college audition and developing a specific success plan for each.

Staff assistance creating winning ONLINE auditions.

Creating personalized letters of recommendation from AOD staff as well as professionals in the industry.

Helping to find and secure scholarship opportunities. This is in addition to scholarships from The Academy awarded to all graduating members of the AOD Competitive Dance Company.

Rehearsing all aspects of the college audition with a team of experienced professionals.
